چکیده

We employ experiment and theory to explore the nonlinear elasticity and yielding of concentrated suspensions of nanoparticles which interact via purely repulsive forces. These glassy suspensions are found to exhibit high exponent power law or simple exponential dependences of the shear elastic modulus and perturbative yield stress on nanoparticle volume fraction, as well as a monotonic decrease of the perturbative yield strain with increasing concentration. Our experimental observations are in good agreement with the predictions of a recently developed microscopic statistical mechanical theory, which describes glassy dynamics based on a nonequilibrium free energy that incorporates local cage correlations and activated barrier hopping processes [(1) Schweizer, K. The Nonlinear Bending Analysis for Circular Nano Plates Based on Modified Coupled Stress and Three- Dimensional Elasticity Theories

In this paper, the nonlinear bending analysis for annular circular nano plates is conducted based on the modified coupled stress and three-dimensional elasticity theories. For this purpose, the equilibrium equations, considering nonlinear strain terms, are calculated using the least energy potential method and solved by the numerical semi-analytical polynomial method. According to the previous ...

Investigation of Linear and Nonlinear Buckling of Orthotropic Graphene Sheets with Nonlocal Elasticity Theories

In this paper, analysis of linear and nonlinear buckling of relatively thick orthotropic graphene sheets is carried out under mechanical load based on elasticity theories. With the help of  nonlocal elasticity theory, the principle of virtual work, first order shear theory and Von-Karman nonlinear strain, the dominant relationship in terms of obtained displacements has been obtained, and the me...

Theory of nonlinear rheology and yielding of dense colloidal suspensions.

A first-principles approach to the nonlinear flow of dense suspensions is presented which captures shear thinning of colloidal fluids and dynamical yielding of colloidal glasses. The advection of density fluctuations plays a central role, suppressing the caging of particles and speeding up structural relaxation. A mode coupling approach is developed to explore these effects.

Breakdown of elasticity theory for jammed hard-particle packings: conical nonlinear constitutive theory

Hard-particle packings have provided a rich source of outstanding theoretical problems and served as useful starting points to model the structure of granular media, liquids, living cells, glasses, and random media. The nature of ‘‘jammed’’ hard-particle packings is a current subject of keen interest. We demonstrate that the response of jammed hard-particle packings to global deformations canno...

Closed-form Solution of Dynamic Displacement for SLGS Under Moving the Nanoparticle on Visco-Pasternak Foundation

In this paper, forced vibration analysis of a single-layered graphene sheet (SLGS) under moving a nanoparticle is carried out using the non-local elasticity theory of orthotropic plate. The SLGS under moving the nanoparticle is placed in the elastic and viscoelastic foundation which are simulated as a Pasternak and Visco-Pasternak medium, respectively. Movement of the nanoparticle is considered...
